Easy Easter tablescape ideas

If you saw my spring home tour last week, you'll know I'm in full swing with my spring decorations! With Easter right around the corner, my thoughts are turning to Easter craft and design ideas that I can incorporate into my dining table decorations for Easter Sunday dinner or Easter brunch, whichever we decide to do.

I have so much fun decorating for Easter; it's one of my favorite seasons to decorate for. I love that you can go all whimsical with decorative Easter eggs, Easter bunnies, and chickens, or keep it simple with fresh spring flowers and a pretty Easter wreath.

Most of all, I love creating beautiful Easter tablescapes. Particularly with our boys out of the house, we only get the opportunity to catch up on special occasions. The next time I'll see them is when the whole family gathers around the table for Easter dinner, so of course I want my table decorations to be extra-special.

Easter tablescape formula

Thinking about Easter table decorations made me realize something. There are certain elements that I always include in my dining table decor. Without even realizing it, I've turned my decorating ideas into a formula of sorts.

Today, I'm passing my formula on to you, so if you're looking for table decor ideas to spruce up your Easter dinner table, give my formula a go; it might help you too.

Get ready to impress your guests with these simple yet stunning Easter table decor ideas that will surely make your Easter celebrations memorable!

Easter table decorations

Here are some of my best ideas for creating a beautiful Easter Tablescape.

From pastel-colored centerpieces to DIY bunny treat boxes, these Easter table decor ideas will add a touch of whimsy and elegance to your festive table setting.

Think about Easter Place Settings

Before I even think about a table runner or tablecloth for my Easter table, I think about the place settings.

The number of place settings will give you a general table layout and help you decide what sort of table covering and placemats you need.

Lay an Easter table runner

For a smaller group of four people, you might prefer to use two table runners across the width of the table. For larger groups, a full tablecloth or a table runner that runs down the middle of the table could look better.

Whether you prefer joyful, colorful table decorations or pastel tones and white, whatever your style, there is a table runner out there to suit you and your color palette.

For my Easter table, I've chosen a white table runner that runs down the center of our dining room table.

Incorporate Decorative Easter eggs

Colorful Easter eggs are a traditional symbol of the holiday. Use decorated or painted eggs as a centerpiece or sprinkle chocolate eggs around the table as decorations.

You can even make and decorate your own air-dry clay Easter eggs like these pretty boho-style eggs in various sizes.

Decorate with Easter bunnies and chickens

Who doesn't love Easter bunnies and chickens? These cute animals are also associated with Easter; you can use them as centerpieces or decorations.

Use a pastel color scheme for spring

Easter is associated with spring, so use a color palette containing soft pastel colors. Pale pink, baby blue, and soft yellow create a fresh and cheerful atmosphere.

This year, I used pretty blue candles, together with engraved wooden Easter eggs in my Easter window sill display.

Turn Easter baskets into table centerpieces

Fill a basket with flowers or spring flowering plants, and use it as a centerpiece on your Easter table. A basket can easily be removed from the table if more space is needed.

Spring flowers such as fresh tulips, daffodils, and lilacs are excellent ideas for adding a pop of color and a new, natural element to the tablescape. Mix it up with bunches of different types of flowers, or keep it simple with all one sort or color.

Decorate an Easter table with natural elements

It's no secret that I love to decorate with natural elements. Use natural elements like branches, twigs, or moss as fillers in floral displays to create a rustic, natural look.

Add contrast by placing plates atop placemats made from natural materials like jute, raffia, or wicker or wood.

Light candles to create a warm, inviting atmosphere and add a soft glow to the table. Include tall candlesticks for height, and add smaller tealights here and there for more sparkle.

Personalize your Easter table settings

I almost always include some DIY decor in my Easter tablescapes. I converted this Easter bunny basket into a vase for my Easter table and made cute, mini paper bunny treat boxes filled with chocolate Easter eggs, which I placed on the dinner plate at each dinner table setting.

Remember to ensure you have a good balance between the elements. Don't overdo it; less is more.
