Website Controller information
Please see our separate ‘Imprint’.
I take the protection of your personal data very seriously. I treat your personal data confidentially and according to the German and EU General Data Protection Regulations as set out in this privacy statement.
The use of my website is normally possible without giving personal data. So far as supplying your personal data on our pages (eg name, address or e-mail addresses), this is always done on a voluntary basis wherever possible. These data will not be passed on to third parties without your prior consent. (I hate Spam!)
I would like to point out that data transmission over the Internet (for example, by e-mail communication) can constitute a security risk. A complete protection of the data from access by third parties is not possible.
Chalking Up Success uses so-called cookies on our site. These serve to make the web page more user-friendly, effective and safer. These are small text files, which are stored on your computer. Most of the cookies used by us are deleted from your hard drive after the end of the browser session (so-called ‘session’ cookies). Other cookies remain on your computer and make it possible for us to identify your computer on your next visit (so-called ‘permanent’ cookies). Our partner enterprises are not permitted to collect, process, or use personal data by means of cookies on our website. Cookies cause no damage to your computer and contain no viruses.
Data Processing on the Server
Our service provider automatically collects and stores the following information provided by the browser in server log files:
- Browser type / version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL (last page visited)
- Host name of the accessing computer (IP address)
- Time of server query.
The service provider cannot match these data to individual persons. The data are not combined with other data sources.
Chalking Up Success sends out a weekly newsletter which contains a mixture of updates, helpful tutorials, tips, inspiration and relevant promotions for the companies it is affiliated to. Please read our disclosure for an explanation of how affiliate marketing works.
If you would like to receive our newsletter, we require a valid email address. Further data is not collected. We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and will never pass it on to third parties.
Our newsletter may only be received under the following conditions (1) you have a valid e-mail address and (2) you consent to the newsletter being sent to the email address supplied. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to your e-mail address and for legal reasons, you will be asked to confirm your subscription. This is called the double opt-in procedure. This confirmation e-mail is used to prove whether you, as the owner of the e-mail address, are authorized to receive our newsletter.
During the registration for the newsletter, we also store the IP address of the computer system assigned by the Internet service provider (ISP) and used by you at the time of registration, as well as the date and time of the registration. The collection of this data is necessary in order to understand the (possible) misuse of the e-mail address at a later date, and it therefore serves the aim of the legal protection of the controller.
The personal data collected as part of a registration for the newsletter will only be used to send our newsletter. In addition, subscribers to the newsletter may be informed by e-mail, as long as this is necessary for the operation of the newsletter service or a registration in question, as this could be the case in the event of modifications to the newsletter offer, or in the event of a change in technical circumstances.
You may unsubscribe from our newsletter by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link provided at the end of each newsletter or by emailing us at email@example.com
The Chalking Up Success newsletter contains so-called tracking pixels. A tracking pixel is a miniature graphic embedded in such e-mails, which are sent in HTML format to enable log file recording and analysis. This allows a statistical analysis of the success or failure of online marketing campaigns. Based on the embedded tracking pixel, Chalking Up Success may see if and when an e-mail was opened and which links in the e-mail were clicked.
Such personal data collected in the tracking pixels contained in the newsletters are stored and analyzed in order to optimize the shipping of the newsletter, as well as to adapt the content of future newsletters even better to the interests of our subscribers. These personal data will not be passed on to third parties. Data subjects are at any time entitled to revoke the respective separate declaration of consent issued by means of the double-opt-in procedure. After a revocation, these personal data will be deleted. Chalking Up Success automatically regards a withdrawal from the receipt of the newsletter as a revocation.
If you comment on this website, your user name will be shown together with the date of comment creation.
If you send us inquiries through our contact form, your details will be shown in the request form including the contact details provided by you for the purpose of processing the request and for the case of connecting enquiries stored with us. We do not give this data to third parties without your prior agreement.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
This website uses the Akismet anti spam plugin from Automatic Inc. 60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA, which helps filter out spam comments. You can find out more about how Automatic uses the information you supply by reading their privacy notice here: https://automattic.com/privacy-notice/.
For more information about comments, please read our ‘Terms’.

Google Analytics uses so-called ‘cookies’, text files which are stored on your computer and which make possible the analysis of your use of the website. The information regarding your use of this website (including your IP address) from the cookies is sent to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google uses this information to analyse your use of the website, to compile reports about website activity for the website operator and to produce additional services associated with the use of the website and Internet. Google may also send this information to third parties if this is legally permitted or if third parties process this data on behalf of Google. On no account will Google link your IP address to any other data retrieved by Google. You can prevent the cookies from being installed by means of an appropriate setting in your browser software; however, we would like to point out that this may mean that it will not be possible for you to make full use of this website’s functions. The use of this website implies your agreement to Google using the data collected from you in the way described above and for the purposes described above. You can find more about Google analytics here:
You can opt out of data collection and storage by Google Analytics at any time, with immediate effect, by downloading and installing a browser add-on for deactivating Google Analytics. You can find this deactivation add-on here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en-GB
In view of the discussion about the use of Google Analytics with complete IP addresses, we would like to point out that this website uses Google Analytics with the ‘_anonymizeIp()’ extension, so that IP addresses are only processed further in abbreviated form in order to prevent them being directly linked to a particular individual.
Opposing data collection
You can prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics by clicking on the link below.
By clicking the link an opt-out cookie is set that will stop your data being collected on future visits to this site.

Our website includes integrated components of Twitter. Twitter is a multilingual, publicly-accessible microblogging service on which users may publish and spread so-called ‘tweets,’ e.g. short messages, which are limited to 280 characters. These short messages are available for everyone, including those who are not logged on to Twitter. The tweets are also displayed to so-called followers of the respective user. Followers are other Twitter users who follow a user’s tweets. Furthermore, Twitter allows you to address a wide audience via hashtags, links or retweets.

With each call-up to one of the individual pages of this Internet site, which is operated by Chalking Up Success and on which a Twitter component (Twitter button) was integrated, the Internet browser on your information technology system is automatically prompted to download a display of the corresponding Twitter component of Twitter. Further information about the Twitter buttons is available under https://about.twitter.com/de/resources/buttons. During the course of this technical procedure, Twitter gains knowledge of what specific sub-page of our website was visited by you. The purpose of the integration of the Twitter component is a retransmission of the contents of this website to allow our users to introduce this web page to the digital world and increase our visitor numbers.
If you are logged in at the same time on Twitter, Twitter detects with every call-up to our website by you and for the entire duration of your stay on our Internet site which specific sub-page of our Internet page was visited by you.
