If you're looking for vintage style kitchen appliances to add to your wedding registry or to complement your dream kitchen then you've come to the right place. Today, I'm sharing the best kitchen appliances with a retro style but the functionality and energy efficiency of modern appliances. Vintage is in and so are these dream appliances!
Retro appliances for modern consumers
I love curating a vintage style in my home and if you're here then, I'm guessing you do too. When it comes to kitchen appliances though, I'm looking for modern appliances, that fit my modern lifestyle.
Recently, I managed to tick a big item off my 'Dream home' list. Now that I've crossed the new pendants lights off my list, it's time to move on to the next items.
I've been on the hunt for an electric kettle and toaster with vintage design elements and was pleasantly surprised at the options available. It got me wondering about retro kitchen appliances in general and I ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole to see what other vintage appliances I could find.
Modern vintage appliances
When I say 'vintage', I don't mean that I'm looking for antique appliances from the flea market. Although, I'm a flea market junkie, when it comes to my kitchen, I'm looking for appliances that have a vintage vibe but with the safety features and functionality, I've come to expect from my modern appliances.
At the end of my rabbit hole research, it was clear to me that, when it comes to kitchen appliances, we don't have to sacrifice functionality for vintage style. Whether we're looking for large appliances like fridges, stoves, and microwaves, or small appliances like toasters, kettles, and mixers, there are plenty of beautiful retro designs available in a variety of color options.
★Tip★: For anyone looking for a statement piece for a small space, don't forget to check out the mini options below too! Small vintage-style appliances are also good options for other rooms like man caves, home bars, garages, workshops, home cinemas, outdoor kitchens, or even bedrooms.

Mini Retro fridges
Mini fridges and bar fridges are perfect for holding drinks and ice in dorm rooms or family recreation rooms. This mini fridge comes in two colors and even has a bottle cap remover on the side so you don't need to go looking for one to open your drink!

Retro kitchen fridges
Are you are looking for an iconic retro-style fridge for your kitchen? If so, then this charming vintage-style fridge inspired by classic mid-century appliances might be just the one for you. It has a glossy finish and unlike most modern fridges, because it's designed to be free-standing, it looks good from any angle. Various colors are available.

Vintage stoves
I knew that this kitchen appliance brand was rocking small vintage kitchen appliances but I didn't know that they also made vintage stoves. It's a shame I don't have gas (and more money) because I think this range of retro stoves would be perfect in our kitchen!
For all of you professional (or wannabe) cooks out there, this gas stove could be a great option for you. With colors like Candy Apple Gloss Red, Bold Bullet Blue, or Crisp Matte White, who could resist?

Range hoods
I didn't get very far with retro range hoods. Maybe, the best option here is to get a custom-made hood and insert something like this range hood or this professional series stove hood.
I must admit though I'm a little bit in love with this vintage-style range hood.
The cooker hood we have now is a bit more contemporary and looks similar to this hood with glass and stainless steel. The stove hood is getting a bit tatty looking and although I'd love to change it at some point, for now, it will have to do.

Retro kettle
I love the look of this electric teapot kettle simply because of the spout. It's hard to get electric kettles with a nicely shaped spout these days, usually, they are short and straight.
I also love that you can buy this kettle as part of a set with the toaster in the same color. That's useful if you're planning on keeping it to the same brand for all your small kitchen appliances.
You can get tea kettles from this brand in various funky colors, like this cute kettle called 'Poodle & blonde'!

Vintage mixer
I've been looking at stand mixers with metal construction and a tilt-back head for ease of use. From what I've seen, the KitchenAid Artisan series, with its simple design and handy attachments, seems to be the forerunner in the stand mixer category.
Another great option in the high-end market is the colorful range of stand mixers by Smeg.
For anyone looking for a vintage mixer without the huge price tag, you'll be glad to know that there are alternatives available like this stand mixer or this compact stand mixer that look just as good.

Retro toaster
One of the reasons I'm on the lookout for a new toaster is that ours only has thin slots. I don't know about you but when it comes to pieces of toast, I'm a sucker for big thick slices.
I can't tell you how many times I've had to unplug the toaster to fish my toast out of the small slots and by the time I get it out, it's falling to pieces. So, when it comes to getting a new toaster, it goes without saying that I'm looking for ones with wide slots.
Toasters with a bagel setting
Most of the retro-style toasters I found come with two or four wide slots. What I like most is that toasters with wide slots are also great for toasting bagels, muffins, English crumpets, and waffles too. This retro-style toaster has a cool bagel function that heats both sides of the bagel initially and then only toasts the cutting side of the bagel. No more scorching the outside then!
If you're looking to add a pop of color to your kitchen, this quirky-style two-slice toaster comes in three pretty color options. The toaster has wide slots for toasting bagels and muffins together with useful defrost and reheat buttons.
These small appliances are quick and easy to heat up, making the need for a separate toaster oven obsolete.

Modern microwave in Vintage style
If limited counter-space is a problem, then a vintage-style microwave like this one might be just the thing for you.
Retro-look microwaves are easy to use and compact enough to fit in a tiny apartment, dorm room (if allowed), or office space. They come in a range of colors, including mint green or classic white.
Some reviewers mention that they prefer using the simple dials on the retro-look microwaves to set the timer instead of a digital clock.

Drew Barrymore appliances at Walmart
Have you seen the Drew Barrymore appliances at Walmart? While they are not technically vintage style, they are gorgeous and have a chic European cafe-style feel about them. The chic colors would fit right into a more modern retro kitchen.
The Drew Barrymore range is available in the colors Black Sesame, Cornflower Blue, White icing, Oyster Gray, and Sage Green.

Conclusion
These days, there is no need for the modern consumer to sacrifice vintage style in a modern kitchen. When it comes to large and small kitchen appliances, there are so many beautiful retro options to choose from. From white and neutral to pastels and other funky colors, there are vintage appliances to suit every color pallet.
Although vintage style kitchen appliances tend to be a bit pricey, there are affordable options available. When you know that the higher price comes from better quality materials that could last up to three times (or more) than an appliance from a cheaper brand, it's worth paying a little extra if you can.
With all of the beautiful vintage and retro-style appliances I've mentioned here, the hardest part will be choosing one!
