Welcome to my Summer Home Tour! If you are looking for inspiration for your summer decor then you have come to the right place! Today is the last day of the summer home tour blog hop! I've joined up with thirty lovely ladies who have been sharing their beautifully decorated homes all week long. Today, you get to step inside the last homes on the 2021 Summer Home Tour. A big thank you to Marty of 'A stroll thru life' for organising this beautiful home tour. If you've just hopped over from Amber at Follow The Yellow Brick Home, a very special welcome to you. I'm sure you enjoyed browsing through Amber's beautiful cottage style home!
At the end of this post, you will find preview pics and links to all the homes in the 2021 Summer Home Tour.
The rooms featured in my summer Home Tour 2021 include lots of DIYs and I've linked to them throughout this post in case you are interested in seeing some of the tutorials or before and afters.
Coastal summer décor
I'm not usually one for decorating in the coastal style but this year is different. We haven't had a beach holiday since before the lockdowns started and I am longing to feel the sand between my toes again. Hopefully, it won't be long before we can be at the beach again but until then, I'm decorating my home in a coastal style this summer.
If you'd like to re-create any of the decor ideas in this post, the tutorials are in the post 'Easy ways to decorate your home for Summer'.
Summer Home Tour 2021 - Hallway
As usual, we'll start this home tour in the hallway. When you come in through the door, a wooden blanket chest laden with soft textures and pillows invites you to kick off your shoes and stay awhile.
The chest is used to keep all of our shoes and shoe polishing kits. I love that our shoes are out of sight when not in use. Boots are stored in a closet next to the front door. I've popped some white Geraniums into a little wooden box for the windowsill.
Brilli's bed used to be in the nook at the bottom of the stairs. You can see my mini hallway refresh here.
The little drop-leaf table has been simply decorated. In front of the wreath and window frame, I've added a large wooden bowl filled with grass, moss and shells. The lovely barn owl feathers were found by Brilli on one of our walks and they remind me of her.

2021 Summer Home Tour - Lounge
We enter the lounge through a set of white country style double doors. The wood and white coffee table was my first furniture upcycling project. This coffee table started my love of upcycling furniture and was one of the first projects to be featured on my blog. This table makeover can be seen in the post 'Riviera Maison inspired coffee table makeover'. It's changed quite a bit from how it looked when we brought it home and it has a lovely story behind it.
Lounge Styling
Summer centrepiece
I've styled the coffee table with a large glass cylinder vase. The vase is resting on a rustic twig wreath and I've added some early flowering summer cuttings from the garden. Inside a smaller cylinder vase contains a grass plant with moss tucked in around to hide the plant pot. I gathered all the seashells I could find and filled the bottom of the vase with them. Some fluffy 'bunny Tails' peak out from around the grass for a bit of added texture. I love how the vase turned out.
Here's a close-up of the Cylinder vase centrepiece. After I had collected all the bits and pieces, it only took me a few minutes to make – such an easy summer DIY.
Summer tray styling
Next to the cylinder vase, is a metal tray simply styled with a small white houseplant with white flowers. It's called a Kalanchoe and because it's so small, it's perfect for using in summer décor.
Then, there are some candles because of course, I can't do without them!
Bring summer inside
My favourite way of bringing summer inside is with plants. Here's a list of the houseplants I have in this room:
- Pathos (hanging from the bookcase – out of shot)
- Dragon Tree (on the stool)
- Mother-in-law's tongue (in the white pot on the floor)
- Syngonium (behind the sofa)
- Kalanchoe (coffee table)
Photo exchange
Picture ledge & styling
Here's another view of the lounge. I've exchanged some of the prints on the picture ledge for summer. There are a couple of surfer photos and one of my pressed flower prints.
Underneath the shelf, I've hung a small branch of silver birch. I love to hang decorations and string lights from this branch. For summer, I've hung some simple glass bauble style storm lights filled with sand and a tealight.

DIY projects in the lounge
To make it easier for you, here's a list of all the blog posts for the DIY projects you can see in my lounge:
Summer home tour - Dining room.
This room is full of light which (together with the lounge) makes it quite hard to photograph. I try to take photos in these rooms early in the morning before the sun gets too strong.
I've carried the beachy theme over to the dining room. I love how fresh and light the tablescape looks.
Tablescape - styling
A table runner in white linen runs the length of the table.
The rustic round jute table sets provide contrast to the white linen and add texture to the table.
My centrepiece is a simple affair and nothing fancy but I think it looks fab. I always like to keep glass bottles if they have an interesting shape to them. These three are all different sizes and shapes. I've filled them with distilled water and slipped in some greenery from the garden. Then, I just popped a candle into the top of the bottle.
In the background, you can just see my secretary desk, another DIY which can be found on the blog.
The small Kalanchoe plants are the perfect size for adding to summer table settings. Here, I'm using small candle holders as plant pots.
The pretty driftwood table decor is meant to be hung up but I'm using it as table decor for my summer table.
I've filled some glass, globe style storm lanterns with sand and popped a tealight inside.
When I do these tours I am reminded of all the wonderful DIY projects that go into making my home what it is today.
DIY Projects in the Dining Room
- Chalk painted secretary desk
- Wood and white buffet/hutch
- Wood and white side table
