'Hygge' – a Danish word pronounced 'Hoo-ga'. Embrace winter & bring that special Hygge experience into your life with some stylish Nordic style decor.
How To Create A Peaceful Home With Hygge
For me, the word Hygge conjures up log-burning fires, cozy fur rugs and throws, candlelight of course, and a general sense of well-being and safety. Now, who doesn't want that?
This year has been a year of change for me. I started this blog, and I learned and am continuing to learn so many new things. I'm meeting new people, making new connections, and loving every single minute. On the other hand, I feel like my brain is exploding with ideas and lists of all the things I still need to get done.
I need to slow down and take stock and celebrate how far I've come. I need to wrap myself up in a beautiful throw and snuggle up on the sofa with a hot chocolate in hand and maybe even some marshmallows (don't tell my thighs!) - In short - I need the Hygge experience! That's why this Christmastime I'm following the Danish example and trying to bring more Hygge into our home. I'm surrounding myself with all of the things that I associate with that special Hygge experience, in an attempt to create a calming cozy home over the festive season where everyone feels welcome and relaxed.
Do you need the Hygge Experience?
Now, I know that the calming Hygge experience is not for everyone. Some of you may prefer hustle and bustle to calm and cozy and that's perfectly fine too. This is just for those who, like me are feeling a little frazzled and could do with some help in the de-stressing department this holiday season. Take a look at my favorite finds – you never know, there may be something there, that's just perfect for you too!
