Fall decor ideas for outside
Outdoor decorating for Fall doesn't need to be a huge affair. A few Autumn flowering plants and grasses in pots were added here to take the outdoor decor through to winter.
The grass wreath was made fresh this year. If you'd like to make one yourself, take a look at the post 'Grass wreaths and how to make them - easy DIY'.
You can see that the Annabelle Hydrangea is still flowering. The flower heads are starting to get crispy which means it's time to cut them for drying.
Fall decor ideas for the hallway
The first thing you see when you enter our hallway is the stairs. I love to add a touch of seasonal decor by lighting lanterns. The glimmer of lanterns is one of the things I love about Fall.
Next to the stairs, there is a drop-leaf table given to me by a friend of mine. I've been thinking about painting it, although, in the meantime, I'm enjoying styling it up for the seasons. For this year's Autumn decor, I've displayed some DIY fabric pumpkins. I made these a few weeks ago - you may have already seen that blog post. They were super easy to make from fabric remnants.
There is a bench under one of the windows. It's also where we store shoes and shoe cleaning accessories. Everyone needs a place to sit and kick off their shoes when they come in.
I like to use simple Fall floral arrangements or Autumn flower arrangements with dried flowers and seed heads. These kinds of Fall decor ideas are easy to achieve with a few flowers from the garden or wildflowers picked up on a country walk. Hang flowers upside down in a warm dark room until they dry out completely. Use them in flower displays all through Autumn.
Mums are long-lasting and can be displayed inside or out. The smaller varieties look lovely when displayed in a wooden box on the windowsill.
For Fall, I've filled my wooden brick-mould box with some grass, (Red Baron) and a trailing plant.

Fall decor ideas for the Living room
I always have a seasonal centerpiece on the coffee table. The coffee table is the first thing you see when you enter the living room from the hallway.
Lovely Autumnal plants make up my centerpiece this year. There is a selection of Heucheras and gorgeous arching grass. I placed the plants in the center of a rustic twig wreath and draped dried ferns around the outside of the wreath. It's the same wreath that I used for my summer decor. See how I used this wreath in my summer home tour.
The shelf behind the sofa is simply decorated. I found this gorgeous twisted twig wreath at the garden centre when I was there, hoarding Autumn plants! On each side of the rustic wreath is a pot of white heather to add some subtle colour and texture.

Fall decor ideas for the kitchen
I like the kitchen counters to be uncluttered, but that doesn't mean I don't decorate here at all.
I usually give a 'nod' to the season by adding a vase of flowers. My Mother-in-Law gave me these lovely sunflowers that she picked from the flower field. I've added some flowers from my Annabelle Hydrangeas and some ferns from the garden. I have a huge Annabelle Hydrangea right outside the front door.

Rustic Fall decorating ideas for the dining room
My husband has his birthday at the end of August, so I usually create an Autumn tablescape for that celebration. Here's how I decorated the table this year.
I've added some table runners running in different directions. One runner spans the length of the table, and I have two more which are laid across each end of the table.
The large dried leaves are from my birthday flowers earlier in the year. I dried them under a stack of magazines. I love how they add texture to the table.
Of course, no tablescape of mine is complete without candles of some sort. Flickering candles always create a cozy ambient, don't you think?
DIY candle holders for Fall
I added a slim spiral candle to small glass bottles filled with dried peas to make the candle holders. I decorated the bottles with a rustic bow made from string and a few sprigs of dried flowers. Here I've used Lady's Mantle.
Easy napkin decor for Fall
To decorate the table napkins, I used more dried flowers. Just a sprig of flowers is all it takes to make pretty table settings. If you are interested in learning how to make napkins from fabric, see the step-by-step tutorial I did on that a few weeks ago.
Create a Fall dinner party centerpiece
The table centrepiece is a large vase of dried flowers and grasses, placed on a large wood slice. I've decorated around the bottom of the vase with dried Lady's Mantel.
As you can see, most of my Fall decor ideas have come from nature and didn't cost me much to make. You don't always need to spend a fortune to have a lovely home. Sometimes, all it takes is a walk in the countryside for you to harvest some grasses and wildflowers for drying.

Fall kitchen table decor ideas
Talking about drying wildflowers, do you remember the wildflower wreath I made earlier this year? Well, that has dried out nicely. I'm using it as a rustic Fall centrepiece on my kitchen table. I just changed out the candle.
A vase of Japanese anemone takes centre stage on the kitchen table. I have so much of this in the garden. I've combined it with wild carrot seedheads to fill the bouquet out a little.
