None of your dinner guests will guess that the fancy napkin rings on your dinner table were made from recycled toilet paper rolls!
Can I make napkin rings?
Napkin holders are a great way of turning your table decor into something special without a lot of work. The best thing is, you can easily make your own it doesn't take much time either! We use cloth napkins a lot in our house, that's why I'm always looking for new ways to display them. I recently came across a pretty bow napkin folding technique that required napkin rings to make it work. I thought the bows would look great as part of our Easter tablescape set-up, although I didn't have enough napkin rings for every place setting.
We can fit eight place settings at our dining table. During the holiday season, we are usually between six to eight people. Today, I made eight DIY napkin holders, that's one for each dinner guest. This simple project took me around half an hour to complete, tops. The most time-consuming part is wrapping the empty toilet rolls with raffia.
Spring home tour
My DIY napkin holders will be making their debut in my upcoming spring home tour. I can't wait for you to see how lovely the napkin rings look paired with the fabric napkins I made last year.
The 2022 spring home tour will begin on March 7th through 11th. Be on the lookout for that if you're interested in gorgeous spring decor.
Beautiful napkin rings like these are not just great for Easter, they would also look great as part of your summer or Thanksgiving table décor.

TIP: Add a seasonal extra by tucking fresh flowers through the napkin rings too.
Instructions
Step one: First off, cut the empty paper toilet rolls into small pieces. (Just over an inch wide or 3.5 cm).
Step two: Next, wrap the raffia around the toilet roll many times.
Step three: Once the toilet roll napkin ring is completely covered, use the hot glue gun to stick the end of the raffia to the inside of the napkin ring.
Step four: Now, you can use scissors to snip off any loose ends of raffia.
Step five: Finally, glue a dried flower head onto the top of each napkin ring.
TIP: I used natural colored raffia for my DIY napkin holders but you can use colored raffia or acrylic paint to make your napkin rings different colors.
TIP: Swap the dried flower heads for seashells to make DIY napkin holders with a coastal flair for Summer.

Napkin holders FAQ
You can use napkin rings with cloth napkins and paper napkins alike. If you find you can't make a bow with a paper napkin, roll it up and thread it through the napkin ring as it is.
I like to place the napkin holder directly onto the plate facing the dinner guest. If I had soup bowls on the table, I would put the napkin ring just to the left of the forks instead. In this case, because bows would look a little strange turned on their side, I would place them on the table, at the top of the plate.
