It's the most wonderful time of the year! Are you ready to deck your halls? Well, that's good because that's exactly what I've been doing all this week. Read on my friend, we're going to create some gorgeous natural Christmas décor which is bound to be the talk of your table this year! Be warned - I loved this project so much that I couldn't stop taking photos so I've included loads of them in this post -Enjoy!

Here's what you'll need
Evergreens - The first thing to do is get yourself a whole bundle of evergreens. If you can get a mix of different sorts, that would be even better. If you don't have a few forests on your doorstep like me, you can usually buy small bunches of evergreens from a florist. At this time of year, plenty of the big DIY stores also sell them quite cheaply.
I pick my greenery up off the forest floor and as I never know how long it's been lying there, the first thing I do with it when I get home is to soak it in a big tub of water. This makes sure it stays hydrated and won't dry out as quickly once I bring it inside. Then I leave it outside until I'm ready to use it.
Dried seedheads or pods – All kinds of seedheads and pods can be used to make your natural Christmas décor. There's no right or wrong, just use what you have or what you can find. Alliums and thistle seedheads make for interesting décor materials.
Pine cones & nuts – Walnuts & hazelnuts are great for this. Pine cones can be bought online these days if you can't get them near you. Here are some ideas I've found for you:

Florists wire – for binding the greenery together and to the wreath
Secateurs - or Scissors
String or ribbon – for hanging the wreath
Metal ring – for the small candle wreath
Glasses, jugs, baskets – whatever you have, to display your wonderful creations!
Natural Christmas Decor - Decorative Tin
For this display, I just filled up the decorative tin with pine cones and placed a candle in the center. I pushed the tips of some fir branches into the back of the display and placed two small twigs at the front. There you have it – soooo simple!
Natural Christmas Decor - Tablescapes
Lay a runner or tablecloth down the table to protect it from scratches. Start layering various types of evergreen material down the table. Place some candles or glasses in amongst the greenery. How many you use will depend on the size of your table (I used three). Add whichever type of natural décor materials you like. I used cones and twigs for mine. Tweak it until you're happy with it. Invite lots of people around - sit back and wait for the oooohs and the ahhhhhhs!
NOTE: The little rustic trees used in this project were bought many years ago and have been used in some kind of natural Christmas décor project every year since. Here are some other items that would look great in this type of tablescape:

Natural Christmas Decor - Scandi-Style Candle Wreath
This is so simple to do. Bind some evergreens to the bottom part of the ring.
Clip a candle holder to the ring and add the candle.
German Christmas tree candles in white
Tie some brown string around the top of the metal ring and you're finished! Hang up somewhere where everyone can admire all your hard work 😉 I hung mine on my DIY vintage mirror.
Natural Christmas Decor - Tealights Baubles & Evergreens
I love scouring flea markets and secondhand shops for anything I can repurpose into cheap decor for my home. This summer, I picked up a lovely decanter & goblet set which came with its own matching plate. For this project, I used the plate and a couple of the goblets with three tealight glasses and placed the tips of some fir branches all around. Some pine cones (because I love pine cones!) and a few small Christmas baubles complete the display - Simple!
So, there you have it! When you bring the outside in you get gorgeous natural Christmas décor without spending a fortune.
Another plus is that you won't need an air freshener, your home will be filled with the wonderful smell of forest evergreens. What could be more Christmasy than that!
