What are you doing this Valentine's Day? Are you eating out at a lovely restaurant or have your plans been thwarted because you can't get a babysitter? Perhaps you're worried about spending the money on an elaborate celebration or you just prefer to create a cosy intimate atmosphere at home.

Gorgeous place setting - from the post How to create a stunning valentine's day tablescape www.chalkingupsuccess.com

This is for all of you who, for whatever reason, happen to be staying at home this Valentine's Day.  Here's a quick and easy table decor  idea to help you create a romantic and intimate atmosphere and an unforgettable evening.

Stunning Valentine's Day Tablescape - Here's what you'll need

3 Glass vases of differing heights. (Small, medium and large)
2 packs of clear glass chips
Submersible tea lights
Fresh or faux flowers in the colour of your choice
Three floating candles
Water.

Tall glass jars, pink orchids and floating candles. From the post How to create a stunning valentine's day tablescape www.chalkingupsuccess.com

Optional:

Glass plate or coaster large enough for the vases to stand on;
Small glass pearls for scattering
Scented tea lights - for added bling and a gorgeous smell!

Stunning Valentine's Day Tablescape – How to assemble

Make sure your glass vases are clean. If they're dusty or have finger marks on them, wash them in warm soapy water. Dry them with a clean tea towel. Now they should be gleaming and ready for action!

Wash the glass decor pieces in the same way. Don't put these straight into the vase without washing them first or the water in the glass vase may turn cloudy from the glass dust.

Place a waterproof tea light into the bottom of each glass.  These type of lights usually light up once they are in contact with water and will go out as soon as you take them out.

Tip the glass vase onto its side and gently pour in some of the glass décor pieces. You just need enough to cover the waterproof tea light and weight it down.

Next slip in your flower. As this was Valentine's Day table decoration I used a faux orchid in mine this time but below I give some other suggestions for using this same décor throughout the year with or without the floating candles.

Now fill the vases with cold water to just below the rim.

Re-arrange your flower if it has moved and once you're happy with how it looks, pop in your floating candle.

Once the glass decor and flower are in, just add a white floating candle. From the post How to create a stunning valentine's day tablescape www.chalkingupsuccess.com

If you are using the extra items, place the mirror plate on the table where you want your décor to go and arrange the three vases on top. Sprinkle some of the small glass pearls around the vases.

Place some scented tea lights around the vases and you're done!
